AUCKLAND RAGING CLUB PROFIT OF £1567 SHOWN BANK OVERDRAFT REDUCED A profit of £1567. after writing off £5200 for depreciation and £3OO for possible bad debts, is shown in the fctatcn.cnt of accounts of the Auckland Racing Club for the year ended Juno 30. .Last year there was an adverse' balance of £629, which whs increased by writings-off to £268.1. In congratulating members on the result of the season's operations, the report states that u satisfactory feature is thj reduction of the bunk overdraft, which now stands at only £2502, as against £9510 last year. The committee recognises that the future of racing largely depends upon upholding the traditions of the sport and maintaining as high a level of prize-money as possible in order to encourage the breeding and racing of the highest type of thoroughbred, the report adds. The club, it is pleasing to say, is doing its utmost in this direction. For the four race meetings held by the club £33,915 win distributed ill prize-money, which included a sum of £9O contributed by owners as sweepstakes. The racing tnioughout the season was first-class, the fields being good as to number and quality and tie iininties most interesting. The committee regrets that during the past season tcveral members have passed away, notably the lute esteemed president, •\lr. 11. O. jNolan, for so many years closely connected with the atlairs of the club in official capacities, and Messrs. C. A. Brown und \V. C. Ring, members of' the committee. To the relatives of ihese and other members who died during the year the club's deepest sympathy is extended. In addition to writing off £5200 for depreciation and placing £3OO to bad debts reserve, the club gave £162 in donations, leaving a balance of £1567 to be .transferred to capital account. The assets are shown at £133,473 (against £138,327 last . year), including racecourse £35.340, Shortland Street property £3500; buildings, including grandstands, etc.. written down £3500 to £00,050; lotalisator buildings and machines written down £SOO to £17,000; fencing, furniture, dining-room plant, turnstiles, wbrking plant, etc., written down £7OO to £0863; tea kiosk, including plant, and furniture, written down £SOO to £4500; balance owing on sale of cottages, £798; Morrin Street property. £338; material on hand, £316; sundry debtors. £1060; and district training tracks, £3700 (£3250). On the liabilities side capita! is shown at £120,636 (against £119,069 last year). Bank of New Zealand £250-2 (against £9510), loans and deposits £9504 (£9096). bad debts reserve £414 and sundry creditors £414. The president, Mr. R. Hannon, presided. The balance-sheet disclosed that the season wns commenced with a credit balance of £122 19s 6d and finished with a debit balance of £225 2s. lid. McKendry has decided that in the event of both Belinda and Silver de Oro starting in the August Handicap, which is the principal event on the day of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club's August Meeting, J. Fraser will drive Silver de Oro. Unless a bad track is encountered, both mares will start in Saturday's race. Fraser has driven Silver de Oro in all her recent work. The six-year-old gelding Grand Finale, who won the Aylesbury Trot Handicap at. Riccarton last Saturday, is the youngest piember of a well-known family. He is by Great Audubon from Welcome, and is a half-brother to Welcome South, Welcome Reta, Welcome Whispers, Reta's Greeting, Nelson's Guest. Nelfeon's Request, Festive Morn, Great Glee and Scribbler. /Ml these horses were bred at HalSivell by Mr. 0. Dovey, who trained Grand Finale for his race 011 Saturday. Grand Finale was always prominent in the contest and. when his driver, J. Bryce, jun.. placed him under a severe drive ill the straight lie respouded gamely and won in good style! R B. Berrv started Blandford. the two-year-old to Checkers, in the Aylesbury Trot Handicap and he paced a splendid race. He began smartly, and. after mixing it with the front division all the way. he finished fourth. Blandford is by \\orthy Bond from Fancy Pointer. Warboat gave a very solid • performance in the Kirwee Trot Handicap at Riccarton. •which he won. handily after making the pace all the way. He won a race on the Riccarton course early in the season, but was put aside and he'did not make a reappearance until recently, when he competed at Aehburton and failed to see out a mile and a-half journey. Since then he has done a good amount of work and on a slow track on Saturday he registered 3.28 3-BI for the 12 furlongs. He is by Man o ai from Ivv Dillon, who is also tbe dam of the good horso Locanda Dillon Vv arboat is owned bv T H. McGirr, who drove him.
