EXTRACTS FROM THE HERALD The following are extracts from the New Zealand Herald of July 28> 1883: An alarming rumour has obtained currency in London. It i 8 reported that cases of cholera have appeared iti the docks, but it is added that the report lacks trustworthy confirmation. At Cairo the epidemic is being graduelly stamped out, and the number of deaths is decreasing. A meeting of the trustees of the Costley bequest, and of the representatives of the public institutions to which the money has been left, was held yesterday, when it was agreed unanimously that nothing could be done except to sell the property. It was found that there was no way in which the trustees could be relieved of the trust, except by sellimg the property, and all parties have now acquiesced in this action. An adjourned meeting of the lease* holders of the Rotorua township was held last evening, to take steps for the purpose of protecting the interests °£ the leaseholders. It was resolved that) an association be formed for the purpose of contesting any action taken by the Government for the recovery 01 rent, the expenses of the action to borne by the members, and that unttea action be taken to request the Govern* ment to refund the rents already paw*
