FISHERMAN DROWNED
SON'S HEROIC EFFORT A fishing boat tragedy occurred in Wilson's Inlet, west of Albany, Western Australia, recently, when Hugh Strain, aged 55, fisherman, of Denmark, was drowned. His son, Hugh Strain, aged 23, who made an heroic attempt to save his father, reached tho shore in an exhausted condition. The boat was several hundred yards from the shore when it was swamped. Father and son commenced to swim to the land, when the father was attacked by cramp and sank. The son brought the father to the surface, and began to strugglo to the shore, but the father broke free and sank again. The son made an ineffective attempt for several minutes to rescuo his father, and when nearly exhausted, made for the land, which he reached with great difficulty.
