MAORI MISSION WORK
CHURCH OF ENGLAND INTEREST IN THE WAIKATO [from our own correspondknt] HAMILTON*. Wednesday A revival in the interest of Maoris in the Church of England is in evidence in the Wnikato, where attendances at church services are becoming increasingly large. The revival is the outcome of the work of Bishop F. A. Bennett and the Maori clergy in the Waikato diqeese. During the bishop's last visit to tho Waikato 74 Maoris came forward for confirmation, and since then Archdeacon Hori Haiti, of Ngaruawahia, has performed fire marriages and has conducted 20 baptisms. These figures show a marked increase on those recorded for many years. Considerable interest is being taken in the forthcoming visit of Bishop Bennett to Hamilton on Sunday, August 0, when special services will be conducted in St. Peter's Cathedral on behalf of tho Maori Mission. A Maori choir of 20 voices will lead the singing of the hymns.
