AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE
MECHANISED BASIS REORGANISATION SCHEME MELBOURNE, July 19 Plans for the reorganisation of the Australian military forces on a mechanised basis were announced today by the Minister of Defence, Sir George Pearce. The policy to be adopted is in line with the recent development of the British Army. The plans include the training of militia forces in peace time in the use of mechanised units and the establishment of a liaison with owners of suitable commercial motor vehicles so that the organisation may bo extended in time of war.
