CHALLENGE FOR JUNIOR GUP SIMILARITY OF COLOURS A definite challenge for the Junior Cup, at present held by Auckland, was received from Taranaki at the fortnightly _ meeting of tho Auckland Hockey Association, and the match "will be played on a date to be arranged. The Mount Albert Grammar School wrote applying for a ground on Saturday next for third grade team to play Thames High School. A. G. Brady. University, was regraded from second to third grade, and R. Sharpies, University, was transferred to the Wesley Club. Mr. A. G. Williams was nominated to referee the Poverty Bay match on August 5 for the New Zealand Challenge Shield. A Somervillo second grade player, who was ordered off the field last Saturday, is to appear before a special meeting of tho executive committee. A letter was received again complaining of the similarity of the Grammar Old Boys' colours to those of Somorville. A letter i 3 to he eent to the Grammar Club pointing out that if it does not wear distinctive colours when playing Somerville the association will have to seriously consider altering its registered colours. Mr. H. E. Watts, who will control the Norden Cup match, Taranaki v. Waipa, at Waitara, to-day, was nominated as referee to control the North v. South .Island match to bo played at Nelson next month. Tho sole selector, Mr. W. Newsham, will bo asked to nominate Auckland players worthy of selection for the North Island team. Definito arrangements have been made for tho representative players to train on Tuesday nights at 7.30 p.m. at the New Zealand Breweries, Limited, ground in Khyber Pass Road. All other club players are welcome to attend. Tt was decided to suggest to other sports bodies that on July 29 all sports be played on tho Domain, the gate takings to be donated to the, fund of the sports queen. Miss Shirley Walkins. GAMES AT TAURAXGA [by telegraph—own* correspondent] TAURANGA, Wednesday The Tauranga Ilockfcy Association's competitions were continued this afternoon in fine weather. In the final match for the Press Cup for men's teams. Rovers drew with United Country, two goals each. The cup has been won by True Blues by one point from United Country. In the Merryweather Cup contest for ladies' teams, Triers, 3, beat Old Girls, 1; Aretas defaulted to Y-.M.P.
