MOST RATES MAINTAINED GOOD GENERAL COMPETITION LONDON, July 18 At tllo London wool sales to-day 10,372 bales were offered, including 6387 from New Zealand, and about 8876 wjro sold. There was a fairly brisk sale and good Home and Continental competition. Rates mostly were steadily maintained and finer growths were firm. New Zealand clips sold as follows: Scoured Merinos, "Grays Hills," top price, 2 id; average, 23id. Greasy crossbred, "Sea Fund," 9Jcl and 6Jd; half bred, "Moutalto," lod and 14gd.

WOOL AND SHEEPSKINS GOOD SALE AT GISBORNE [BY TELECRAPIt —OWN CORRESPONDENT] GISBORNE. Wednesday The wool oddment and sheepskin sale held in Gisborne to-day attracted tho largest bench of buyers seen here for some timo. The market for both wool and sheepskins was up to recent values at other North Island sales. The offering of wool was between 750 and 800 bales and in addition there were about 8000 skins on offer. It was mainly a orutchings sale and good crutchings sold from 4d to 5d per lb, with seconds worth from 2d to 31d. Odd lots of fleece wool, mostly stragglers, were sold under keen demand at values about 2d per lb bettor than those ruling at the main Napier sales last season. To-day's prices varied from 3Jd to 6Jd per lb. There was very keen inquiry for all scouring wools and pieces, bellies, locks and dead wool sold well at improved prices. The bulk of tho catalogue was cleared under tho hammer. Skins showed a sharp advance on, prices realised at the previous sale inj Gisborne. Sound pelted skins, medium] to fine wools, made from 4}d' to 6M' per lb. Faulty skins also showed a proportional improvement aud the catp.}logues were readily cleared.
