ONE TREE HILL AFFAIRS
CROWN AS MORTGAGEE UNPAID RATE§ QUESTION The support of the Ono Tree Hill Borough Council in united action proposed by local bodies in the matter of unpaid rates on properties mortgaged to the Crown was sought in a letter received at last evening's meeting from tho Wairoa Harbour Board. It was stated that at a conference of local bodies froifi East Capo to Woodville it was decided to ask the Government to sot up a Parliamentary Conimitteo to meet delegates from tho conference and others. The report was tabled, action being deferred. It was decided to kerb tho footpath on tho cast side of Wheturangi Road from Green Lane Road to Matai Road. The foreman, Mr. C. Parfitt, estimated the out-of-pocket cost would bo £45. The issue during ithe year of 45 building permits, valued. at £7840, was reported by the building inspector, Mr. P. H. Hollingsworth. In tho three weeks ended July 13, four permits, valued at £122, had been issued. After a deputation from the Penroso Ratepayers' Association had been heard, it was decided to erect an electric light on tho Great South Road near the Penroso overhead bridge.
