PROTEST BY JUNIOR CLUB MATCH WITH SOUTH AUCKLAND DRAW FOR ROOPE ROOSTER The Auckland Rugby League decided last evening to accept September 2 as the date for the representative match with Hawke's Bay. Provided Auckland defeats South Auckland on Saturday next the Northern Union Challenge Cup will be played for. It was decided to accede to the request of the Taranaki League to advance the date for the visit of an Auckland team to New Plymouth by a week. The game is- now to be played on August 5. Discussing a letter from the Papakura Club, protesting against the action of senior clubs in poneliing its brat players, the chairman, Mr. G. Grey Campbell, said it was a hardship upon clubs which had no senior team to lose players. It was only reasonable that a transfer fee might be paid by senior clubs to the club losing players. The Papakura Club claimed that junior clubs could be grouped with senior clubs, thus giving junior players an avenue for promotion. It was eventually decided to forward the letter, which was of considerable length, to the junior management committee for a report. A deputation from the Otahuhu Club asked for a senior grade match to be played at. Sturges Park. It was suggested that one of tho Koope Booster matches could be played on Saturday week. The matter was deferred pending consideration of the draw for the Boope Booster competition. At the request of the Ellerslie Club it was decided to play nn exhibition game at Ellerslie on July 29. Two teams knocked out in the Boope Booster competition will participate. The Northland League advised that it was unable to nominate a club team for the Roopo Rooster competition. The junior management committee wrote asking for more consideration for junior teams in arranging curtain-raisers. It was claimed junior football was not being fully appreciated. The matter was deferred until tho next representative match as arranged.
