VENTURES IN FIJI Considerable progress is being mado with goldmining ventures in Fiji, according to Mr. W. Colley, an Australian mining engineer, who is passing through Auckland by the Monowai on his return to Sydney after spending two years in Fiji directing operations on behalf of an Australian syndicate which is mining on a large scale. A largo modern crushing plant had been erected by the company, Mr. Colley said, and'results were proving highly satisfactory. Tho mining was carried out on Viti Lovu, tho principal island of the Fiji group, and was confined to reef mining. I?icli gold-bearing reefs had been located, and there was every prospect that expert investigation might reveal other rich areas.
