FAIR TO FINE WEATHER —— SOME SEVERE FROSTS The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—An intense anti-cyclone, has moved slowly on to New Zealand, the centre to-day being over Otago. Pressure is relatively low.to the north-east and east of the Dominion. Indications are for strong but decreasing southerly winds north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura; elsewhere light to moderate and variable. Seas heavy between Cape Campbell .and East Cape; rough elsewhere north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura; elsewhere smooth to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to fresh south-east winds in the northern portion, light and variable in the southern; seas smooth to moderate. Weather still squally and showery between Kaikoura and East Cape and in the Cook Strait area, but improving; elsewhere fair to fine. Temperatures cold, with some severe frosts. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland. —Fine clear sunny weather prevailed yesterday, but the light southerly breeze made the conditions very cold in the shade. The barometer continued above normal and was practically steady all day. Earometer, midnight, steady .. 30.15 in. Midnight, Thursday , .. 30,201n. Temperature in shade yesterday (to mid-' night)— Maximum, 52deg.; minimum 46deg. Wellington.—Cold southerly weather with frequent squalls of rain and sleei continued yesterday. Christchurchi—The weather was raw with a slight south-west breeze and a maximum temperature of 48 degree! yesterday. The barometer fell four points to 30.40 in. Dunedin. —There was a continuation of line weather yesterday. Bright sunshine was experienced practically all day and there was no wind.
