NEW PLYMOUTH HORSES R. BARLOW'S USEFUL TEAM \ . [from our own correspondent! NEW PLYMOUTH. Thursday The local track has been quiet of late, but things are beginning to liven up again and there will bo increasing activity in the next few week?. R. Barlow intends taking Glenvane, Amyril and Headmistress to Trentham next . month. Glenvane and Amyril raced at Foxton last Saturday and their showings were very pleasing to their trainer. Glenvane has shown no signs of a recurrence of the bleeding that necessitated his spell last February and has deno well since his return. ' Amyril had made good progress since her third to La Grown and Beacon B'ire at Hawera and her win was well anticipated. Though she may never stand up to a great dial of racing on hard tracks, sho will always be useful when the sting is out of the ground. . The rising two-year-olds Aussie Ra ami Missouri are well forward. The latter is a, ready-made galloper who displayed a lot of nippiness in a parade held on the occasion of the hunt club's point to point on June 3. Aussie Ra will probably take more lime, but he .is a good type. In addition to these horses, Barlow will be preparing a half-brother, by Potoa, to the useful southern hurdler Moreno, , ond „ Sl if Sox a good-looking four-year-old by Royal Divorco from the Campfire mare RibbonJ. 'O'Neill is busy with. Bold Bid and General Quex. The former is a half-brother. by Poioa. to Merry. Way. and his only sturt this season was when he contested the Xiu-sery Handicap at Feilding in December Ue has built up nicely in the interval and should pro\e useful next season. Nothing very strenuous has. yet been risked of General Quex but he is developing splendidly, and, if looks and breeding go for anything, he should be capable of playing his part in next seasons two-year-Sid events He is a beautifully-mannered col't who is getting through his work to the entire satisfaction of his trainer. A full-sister to Admiral .Drake, the four-ye.ir-old mare Duckling, is. following the lUmdF with the Egmont-Wanganm Hunt \h>* senson She showed quite a lot of pace on the tracks when she was in training last •ear, but did not produce it in a race. HowcVir. a season's hunting may make her nioie Folid and sho i» looking very robust nt present.
