TRIBUTES TO MR WALTON [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] !l . NGATEA, Friday Mr. E. L. Walton, who is leaving Ngatea to take up his duties as stipendiary magistrate at Gisborne, - a position to which he was recently appointed, was the guest of honour at a farewell social iii the Ngatea Hall last, evening- There was a representative attendance of residents of the Hauraki* Plains, Thames and Paeroa districts, and eulogistic references were made 011 behalf of_ all sections of the community to Mr. W alton's active interests during his many years' residence at Ngatea in all matters concerning the welfare of the district. Mr. C. W. Parfitt. chapman of the Hauraki Plains County " Council, presided.
