CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SHIELD VICTORY FOR NORTH SHORE The management committee of the Auckland Cricket Association at its monthly meetins awarded the Simmonds and Usborne Shield for the club championship to tho North Shore Club. The points scored by the leading clubs, which must have a team in each of tho first three grades, were: —North Shore, 487; Parnell, 483.; Ponsonby, 404. It was decided to write congratulating the winning club on its splendid performance. , The junior bowljng trophy, for the beat performance by players under the age of °J years in grades below senior, was awarded to I. Cleal. of the Balmoral senior B team, who took 51 wickets at an average of 13.7 per wicket. The next best performance was that of C. Hades. Grafton second grade, who took 34 wickets at an average of 994 On analysing the two cases it was agreed that Cleal had been the more successful against the stronger teams. A suggestion from the Parnell Club J"** a lew of sixpence per player be added to registration fees for the purpose of opening a fund for insuring players against injury, was referred back to the club a reQuest that a scheme be brought forward that each club could adopt independently. It was decided to invite Otago to play Auckland next season on December 23. 25, 26 and 27 and Canterbury on December 30. January 1, 2 and 3. The Hawke'a Bay Association advised that it would tour Sou til Auckland and Auckland next season, play ing at Hamilton on January 1 and 2, and., if suitable, at Auckland on January 4, • and 6 or 5 and 6. These dates were tentatively nccepted, provided tho other dates suited Otago and Canterbury.
