NEW RALPH LYNN FILM

" JUST MY LUCK " FOR PLAZA After an absence from the screen of nearly a year, Ralph Lynn will make a welcome reappearance at the Plaza Theatre to-morrow in "Just My Luck." Probably the most popular combination of comedians on the screen is that from the Aldwych Theatre, London. These players did much to establish British talking pictures as serious rivals to American, and were responsible, among other outstanding films, for "Rookery Nook," "Tons of Money," "Might Like This," "Canaries Sometimes Sing," aud "Mischief." Most of these farces have been written by Ben Travers, and his brilliant dialogue and the witty situations he introduces have contributed in no small measure to their success. He was the author of this latest production, and his humour is even more delightful than before. Ralph Lynn is peculiarly suited $o the part of an unsuccessful music teacher who has been almost comically unlucky all his life. His acting throughout is genuinely humorous, and must rank among his best performances. The music teacher falls in love with his girl pupil, and she 1 persuades him that, 7v S he has now reached half o? the allotted span, he will be exceptionally lucky for the next 35 years. The oeriod starts badly, for he is immediately dismissed from his post of teacher to the girl, but his character changes in an amazing way, and he becomes superbly self-confident. His commanding presence wins for him an important position as manager of a large hotel and he experiences a series of hilarious adventures from which he finally emerges triumphant. Winifred Shotter gives a delightful performance as the pretty girl pupil, while other well-known players in the cast are Vera Pearce, Robertson Hare and Phyllis Clare. The film was directed by Jack Raymond, who was responsible for "It's a King."
