Wednesday Tho opinion that the hospital levy on local bodies should bo replaced by a national insurance scheme was expressed at a meeting of the Waikato County Council yesterday. Tho chairman, Mr. W. Newell, agreed to bring tho proposal before tho next counties' conference. Mr. C. Smith said the levy was an unjust tax on the ratepayers. Mr. G. M. Watt contended that the hospitals should be maintained nationally and everyone over the ago of 21 should contribvjtc 6d a week in lieu of the tax.
