WEDDING

LOWRY—RUSSELL A wedding of great interest throughout New Zealand took place at the little Crownthorpe Church, Hawke's Bay, on Saturday, when Mr. T. C. Lowry, the former New Zealand cricket captain, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Lowry, of Okawa, Hawke's Bay, was married to Miss Margot Russell, youngest daughter of Major-General Sir Andrew Russell and Lady Russell, of Tuna Nui, Hastings. New Zealand native flora had been used to decorate the church in addition to roses, chrysanthemums and violets, and the ceremony was performed by the Bishop of Waiapu, Bishop Williams, and assisted by-the Rev. Canon Cubrick. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a gown of pale parchment satin cut on classical lines, the reverse side of the material being enhanced with inset bands of the brighter side which defined the hipline. The long sleeves of satin were puffed above the elbow and from there fitted closely to the wrist. Her veil of beautiful old lace, lent by Miss Hilda Williams, was caught with a wreath of orange blossoms and formed a train. A sheaf of pink roses and maidenhair fern was carried. The two bridesmaids were Miss Jane Deans (Canterbury), niece of the bride, and Miss Christine Williams, of Frimley (cousin). Their picturesque frocks were of blue panne velvet with square necks, liiglf waists and long skirts corded to the vokes of the frocks. Wreaths of blue velvet leaves encircled their heads and thev carried Victorian posies of pink rosebuds, forget-me-nots and niaidenhai'r fern. Mr. A. T. Donnelly, of Christchurch, was best man. following the ceremony the guests, comprising relatives only, were entertained by Sir Andrew and Lady Russell at Tuna N ii. Lady Russell wore a frock of navy blue silk with shoulder spray oi earlv spring flowers and navy blue hat with sable furs. Mrs. T. IT. Lowry, the bridegroom's mother, was in black cmbossed georgette with cluster of violets on one shoulder and black hat with feathers.
