CHINA AND JAPAN SELECTION OF VENUE CONFERENCE IN SECRET QUESTION OF MANCHUKUO By Tclesrraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received May 31, 5.55 p.m.) SHANGHAI, May :10 Tangku (Taka), a port about 30 miles east of Tientsin, has been selected as the venue for the Sino-Jap-ance peace conference. There tho discussions will proceed with the utmost secrecy. Both sides declare that no political issues will be discussed, but China's future attitude toward Manchukuo is bound to bo involved.
REPORTED TRUCE BELIEVED TO BE SIGNED MESSAGE FROM JAPANESE (Received June 1, 12.45 a.m.) SHANGHAI, May 31 It is reported that a Sino-Japanese truce was signed at 11 a.m. to-day. Shortly afterward a Japanese airman from Tangku circled over the Japanese Legation in Peking and dropped a metal cylinder believed to contain a message regarding the negotiations.
