Miss B. Skeets, of Cambridge, is the guest of Mrs. J. W. Lowe, of Devonport. Mrs. W. H. Jolly, wife of Commander Jolly, left by the Ruahine yesterday for England. Mrs H. 11. H. Chalmers, of Brighton Road. Parnell, left by tho Monowai on a visit to Honolulu. Mrs. M. J. Spear, who has been visiting Auckland, will return to Rotorua to-day by tho express. Mrs. Claude Tucker has returned to Auckland from a visit to Mr. and Mrs. Lindo Waddel, of Hamilton. Mrs. C. R. Smith and her daughter Shirley have returned to Auckland, following a visit to Nelson and Wellington. Mrs. A. H. G. Hunter, of Epsom Avenue, is visiting New Plymouth, where she is the guest of Mrs. M. G. Thomas. Mrs. H. S. Ludbrook, Bay of Islands, who has been tho guest of Mrs. Guy Bindon, in Hamilton, leaves for Auckland to-day. Miss Dolly Vaile, of Gillies Avenue, Epsom, has returned from a visit to Wellington, where she was the guest of Mrs. W. E. Herbert. Miss Duncan has returned from a short visit to Wellington after seeing her niece, Miss Ruby Slatter, oil to England in tho Raugitata. Mrs. R. George v who has been visiting her mother, Mrs. A. Devore, St. Stephen's Avenue, Parnell, returned this week to New Plymouth. Miss D. Bray, secretary of tho Wellington Pacing Club, has arrived in Auckland to attend the races at Ellerslie. Sho is staying at the Grand Hotel. Few people know that tho library at Windsor Castle contains, among other things, live hundred original drawings by Leonardo da Vinci —more than half of all the known drawings of tho Italian genius. The Onehunga Croquet Club closed for the season yesterday. Owing to tho weather members were unable to play croquet, and instead played bridge and five-hundred. Prizes were won as follows:—Mrs. A. R. Staunton, for bridge; Mrs. S. Vella, hidden number; Mrs. Len. Bray, five-hundred. A social evening, arranged by the Presbyterian Home Mission at Kumcur proved a very popular function, Tho attendance included visitors from Waitakere, Riverhead, Huapai and Hobsonville. The programme was in charge of the Rev. J. More, who presented an amusing sketch entitled, "The Canadian Wonder." Other items were rendered by Mrs. C. Milligan, Miss Margaret Patterson, Mr. Arnold Cullum and Janet and Lawrence More. Games and competitions were the cause of much fun, and supper, served by the ladies, brought an enjoyable evening to a close.
