SCHOOL COMMITTEES
ELECTION AT KOWHAi There was a large attendance of householders at the annual meeting held on Monday to elect parents' representatives on the Kowhai Intermediate School Committee. Mr. A. J. Stallworthy, M.P., presided. The following committee was elected: —Mr. A. A. Buckley (chairman), Mrs. E. A. Smytho (hon. secretary), Messrs. L. E. Rhodes, F. A. May, C. F. Quinnell and F. Truman. The representatives of contributing schools are:—Mr. E. A. Page (Mount Albert), treasurer, Mr. L. E. Faulkner (Mount Eden) and Mr. A. Gear (Edendale). The annual report of the principal, Mr. J. F. Wells, extracts of which have already been published in the Herald, and the financial statement were adopted. Credit balances of £36 and £B2 in the general and the grounds; accounts respectively were reported. NORTHCOTE MEETING At the annual meeting of the Northcote District High School Committee Mr. H. Shaw was re-elected chairman. Regarding the resolution of Albany householders complaining of excessive homework at the high school, the headmaster said he did not consider the children were overburdened. The chairman said the complaint arose from overlapping, the masters teaching different subjects, each setting homework. MANGERE EAST SCHOOL There was a good attendance at the annual meeting of householders at the Mangere East school. The following committee was elected:—Chairman, Mr. F. G. Massey; secretary and treasurer, Mr. M. D. Nash; committee, Messrs. A. E. Belcher, F. \V. Doble, A. W. Outfield, E. R. Tylden and R. McDonell.
