OBITUARY
MRS. M. C. CLARK The death occurred recently of Mrs. M. C. Clark, an early resident of New Zealand, at the age of 82. Mrs. Clark arrived in Auckland by the Ganges on October 12, 1863. She was one of the pioneer settlers in the Pollok district, but left there 30 years ago, and at the time of her death was living with her daughter at Otahuhu. She is survived by nine children, 25 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. MR. FRANK APPLEBY [from our own correspondent! WAIUKU. Tuesday The death occurred at his residence, Glen brook, yesterday, of Mr. Frank Appleby, at the age of 60 years. Mr. Appleby was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Appleby. His mother, who was born in Auckhtnd, died at Mount Albert on May 21, at the age of 91. Mr. Appleby was born on his parents' farm at Pokeno and soon after moved with them to another farm in the Mangatawhiri Valley. He later went to Auckland, where he worked as an ironmoulder for about 17 years. He was married to Miss Anna Young in Auckland 32 years ago. For the past 25 years Mr. Appleby has lived on his farm at Glenbrook. He is survived by his wife and two sons. MR. H. S. HISLOP [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION'] WELLINGTON, Tuesday The death has occurred of Mr. Harold Stevens Hislop, managing director of the Wellington branch of Stewart Dawson and Company, Limited, aged 68 years. He was a prominent member of the Rotary Club.
