STREET LIGHTING COSTS The reduction in street lighting charges made by the Auckland ElectricPower Board will involve a saving of £420 a year to the Mount Eden Borough Council, according to advice received by the council at its meeting last evening. The Mayor, Mr. T. McNab, presided. The general question of street lighting throughout the borough is to be dealt with by a special committee, and another committee will report on the order in which the footpaths are' to receive atare paying £IOO a year to the Health Department," said the Mayor, in referring to a recommendation of the Finance Committee that the Health Department be informed that th« services of the department s inspector will no longer be required. In the future the council intends to carry out the work of fumigation and inspection in connection with infectious diseases in the borough. Ihe recommendation was adopted.
