The function proved highly successful. MeCormick, in giving the "Thought for tho Month," spoke on faith and read a short poem of John Oxenham's. Mrs. McKinlay gave a violin solo. Dr. J. C. D. A very enjoyable concert was given bv Mr. A. Hamblin on Thursday evening at the Dock Street Mission, St. Matthew's Hall. The programme consisted of songs, mandolin items, dancing, humorous sketches and community singing. Those taking part were:— Mr. and Mrs. J. A very successful Women's Christian Temperance Union At Home was held at the residence of Mrs. F. W. Mountjoy, Quadrdnt Road, Onehunga. There was an exceptionally large gathering of menibers and friends. Mrs. Ashby, superintendent of home meetings, presided. A very interesting paper on " Why Worry ? " was read by Mrs. King. Dr. Jeannie C. At a gathering of tho members of the Wellington Early Settlers and Historical Society held in Wellington last week to honour the 98th birthday of Mr. George Judd, of Lower Hutt. a letter was read from Mrs. Frances Fergusson tvritten on behalf of Lady Alice Fergussori to a member of tho association. In it the writer stated that Lady Alice was making a very good recovery from her serious motor accident, but the doctor did not yet .allow her to write herself, as she easily tired. "She is getting on so well," stated Mrs. Fergusson, "that we hope that she will shortly be restored to her former health and strength."
