OPTIMISM AS TO VALUES LONDON SALES' FIRM TONE LONDON, May ;''26 At the London wool sales to-day 7850 bales were offered, including 4119 from New Zealand, and about 4335 were sold. The firm tone continued, and offerings were readily absorbed at full late rates. New Zealand clips sold as follows: Greasy halfbred. " Kukumoana," top price 11 kl, average 9;] d; greasy crossbred, "Matarau," lOd and 7|d; crossbred lamb slipe, " Belfast," IOJd and 9 2d.
The Yorkshire Post says the present condition of the wool trade is regarded as the healthiest in recent years. It is felt that the values, of fitifj wool are assured far ahead. Several Bradford firms have refused to sell large parcels to America at a useful profit, believing that prices will improve.
