REPRESENTATIVE FIXTURE ROTORUA DEFEATS TE PUKE Rugby football matches were continued in the various country centres on Saturday afternoon. Kotorua defeated To Puke in a representative match played at le i uke by 10 points to G. The following results were forwarded by correspondents of the Herald:— Hamilton.— The Sage Cup competition was continued at Rugby Park in ideal weather. As was anticipated, a close game resulted between Old Boys and Frankton, neither of these teams having yet lost a frame this season. The final score. 3-all, indicated the evenness of the play. In the first half play was comparatively lifeless, no score being registered. The second half had progressed about 10 minutes when the game developed into a fast, exciting tussle, with the backs on both sides showing to belter advantage. A clever back movement and a gleat sprint by Parker, who transferred a few yards from the lino to Lissette, gave the Old Boys team its only points. Frankton equalised when Everest kicked a penalty goal from a fairly difficult position. Technical Old Boys, 15, beat Horotiu Works, 5. Whangarei.—There was a fair attendance at Rugby Park to witness the usual Saturday games. The grounds were in splendid condition for the first series of matches, but heavy showers fell subsequently, making the ball greasy and the ground heavy. The chief attraction at Rugby Park was the senior match. City v. Horahora, resulting in the former winning by 3 points (try by Fraser) to 0. The game was a great struggle between two >vell-tnatched sets of forwards. In tho first spell the Horahora team had decidedly the better of tho play and in the second half City held the advantage. Ihe concluding stages were thrilling; and the spectators were worked up to high excitement. For tho winners, Kerr. Barrett, McKenzie and Mahunga were most prominent, and for the losers Davis, Ford and Pickering were conspicuous. Penny, halfback for Horahora. received injury to his back, necessitating his leaving the "eld, and ho was replaced by another player. At Hikurangi a very exciting game was witnessed between Hikurangi and Old Boys, resulting in a win for Hikurangi by 3 points (try by White) to 0. Both teams. were unbeaten until this match and on this account great interest was taken in the game, which leaves Hikurangi, last year's champion. the leading team in tho senior competition. Notwithstanding honvy showers, the game was very fast and willing. White. Hamilton and Laurie were tho most prominent for the winners.
