CHALLENGES FOR PEACE CUP [l'ltOM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT] M O RRINSVILLE, Wednesday The management committee of the Morrinaville Rugby Union met last evening, Mr. B. Chapman presiding. Several challenges from other unions in South Auckland were received in respect of the Peaoo Cup and Boyce Cup at present held by Morrinsvillo. The opinion was expressed by members that as many Peaca Cup matches aa poHHiblo should ho played, with fewer elimination matches. This would give some of the smaller unions a chance of playing the holders. It was decided to send the senior representatives to Waihi on Juno 3. After some discussion it was decided to enter only one team in tlio Waikato competition for the Finlay Cup. RANFURLY SHIELD MATCHES CHALLENGING TEAMS' EXPENSES [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] CHHISI CHURCH, Wednesday The Canterbury Rugby Union decided yesterday to* bring various matters concerning the Ranfurly Shield challenges before the annual meeting of tho New Zealand Rugby Union. . Members pointed out that there wha nothing in tho rules governing the shield to prevent a team from, say, north of Auckland, travelling to tho other end of New Zealand and loading all the expenses of tho trip on the gato takings for a shield match with the holders at a time when th» visiting team could not undertako the financing of an ordinary tour. The danger of such practice reacting adversely ou the shield holders was stressed.

THE WAIPA UNION

[from our own correspondent]

TE AWAMUTU, Wednesday

Tlie Waipa Rugby Union, at its meeting Inst evening, decided to require the Kiliikihi Club to transfer two of its former players to the Rovers Club. The matter had been before the union for some time and had occasioned considerable interest anions players and supporters. The two men had played for Kiliikihi for several years and this season applied for a transfer. At last evening's meeting the Kiliikihi Club did not unduly press its objection. The union also appointed Mr. A. Emmett, of Ohaupo, as junior representative selector.

Claims on the union's insurance fund will in future only be recognised when accompanied by a certificate from a player's club secretary that he is a financial member. It wag decided to play only two rounds in each of the three grndes of the union's championship competitions.
