CLASH AT GENEVA
FKANCE AND GERMANY SITUATION VERY GRAVE CONFERENCE ON ARMS CONVENTION IN DANGER By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright (Received May I, 7.25 p.m.) LONDON. May 1 The Geneva correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says the clash between France and Germany at the Disarmament Conference has produced a situation of the utmost gravity. Unless something can bo done quickly the hope of a convention on the basis of the British plan must bo abandoned. A meeting between Captain R. A. Eden, British Foreign Under-Secretary, Herr Nadolny (Germany), and Mr. Arthur Henderson at the week-end did not persuade the Germans to give way on any major point.
