NURSING OF ESCORT ___ - *, INJURIES TO A CONSTABLE John Liddell, a prisoner who attended an injured police officer during his journey in custody to Darwin, Northern Australia, was sentenced in the Supreme Court there recently to 12 months' imprisonment for forgery. The Judge remarked that he regarded accused as the mere tool of the real culprit, and said that his conduct during the journey in custody was exemplary. He was found guilty of having forged and uttered a cheque for £35 Bs. Accused's escort, Constable Reid, became ill on the journey, and was attended by Liddell that night. Next day a packhorse threw the constable against a tree, injuring his ribs, kneo, head and ankle. Liddell remained in camp looking after the gear and horsos for three days while tho constable lay at ' house recovering from his injuries.
