TAURANGA POWER BOARD
PROFIT OF £1334 FOR YEAR CHARGES BEING REVISED [from our own correspondent] TAURANGA, Monday The secretary of the Tauranga Elec-tric-Power Board, Mr. G. R. Chambers, in his report on the financial operations of the board for the year ended March 31, 1933, stated that the revenue from the sale of current was £752 lower than in the previous year, hut exceeded the estimated amount for the year by £623. Power purchases, £6598, exceeded the previous year's figure by £449. The cost of power for the present year, after allowing for the discount of 7j per cent offered by the Borough Council, would represent 6s in every pound of the board's revenue from the sale of current. The secretary stated he was able to record a profit of £1334 on the year's operations, after providing for interest, sinking funds, bad debts, and the crediting of £IOOO to the depreciation reserve. The board's tariffs were being revised, and reductions totalling £2250 would be placed before the board at the next meeting for confirmation. He had no hesitation in stating that the board's finances would allow of these reductions.
