PRICES FOR MILK
CONTROL BOARD PROPOSED SUPPORT OF CONFERENCE A further stage in the "milk war" in Auckland was reached yesterday, when there was an attendance of about 30 at a meeting of producers, vendors and other interested persons. The conference was convened by the Manukau County Council, which has been concerned regarding the situation in which a great many ratepayers in its district will be placed by the re-cently-reduced prices for milk and cream sold in the city and suburbs. The chairman of the council, Mr. F. M. Waters, presided, the discussions being held in committee. After consideration for some live hours the meeting decided to approve the principle of the formation of a board, under legislative authority, to control the supply and distribution of milk and cream in tho metropolitan area. Tho County Council was authorised to mako representations to the Auckland City Council to convene a conference of all parties interested with a view to carrying the proposal into, effect.
