RAILWAY REVENUE

PASSENGERS AT EASTER AUCKLAND TOTAL LOWER A decrease in revenue of £166 from passenger traffic during the Easter period at Auckland, compared with the corresponding period last year, is shown in the receipts by the Railway Department from April 10 to April 16 inclusive The total returns from the railway booking office, agencies and tho Government Tourist Bureau amounted to £4493, against £4659 last year.

The receipts from the tourist bureau for 1933 amounted to £2OOI, a decrease of £274. The decrease is accounted for partly by the fact that the bureau was open to the public for one day less this year than at last •Easter. There was an increase of £IOB in the returns from the railway booking cffice and other agencies. Receipts in 1933 amounted to £2492, and in 1932 they totalled £2384. Additional increases, not included in the total figures for Easter, were £ll in suburban bookings, £lO in sleeping berth accommodation, and £2l in reserved seat bookings. .
