SEARCH FOR REVOLVER
MERCER SHOOTING CASE DETECTIVES AND CONSTABLES In an endeavour to find the revolver which was used by the man who wounded Mr. J. P. Bates, the garage proprietor who was shot at Mercer on Friday night, Detective-Sergeant Dovle and Detectives Wilson and Mahood left Auckland by oar early yesterday morning. It is believed that the assailant threw away his weapon before he abandoned the motor-car he was using just north of the traffic bridge at Ngaruawahia. Four constables were also sent from Auckland to Mercer by train yesterday morning. Armed with slashers and wearing old clothes, these men will assist the detectives in searching both sides of the road and the riverbank between Mercer and Ngaruawahia.
