RANGITOTO BALL
The annual fancy dress ball promoted by Mr. Phil Lewis, of the Rangitoto Improvement League, took place on Saturday night, and was a great success. Tho ball was opened by the Mayor of Devonport (Mr. Meikle). Mr. Phil Lewis acted as host and was assisted by Mr. and Mrs. Peter Dawson and Mrs. Elles. Unique costumes were worn by somo of the dancers. The prize-winners were Messrs. G. and E. Green, who represented islanders. Tho materials of their costumes were obtained on tho island. Mr. Wilson, pioneer settler or Rangitoto aged 87, addressed tho company, and complimented tho league on the success of the function and upon the improvements to the island. Supper was in the charge of Mrs. It. J- ISoblo and lady helpers.
