MUSIC EXAMINATIONS
PRIZES IN DOMINION TWO EXHIBITIONS AWARDED Only two of the three exhibitions, tenable in London, offered for New Zealand last year by the Associated Board of the ]loyal Schools of Music, London, have been awarded. They were won by Merle Cunningham and Allen L. Wellbrock, both of Christchurch, who will .go to England before tl;o end of the year. Following are details of exhibitions, prizes and medals awarded by the Associated Board to candidates who presented themselves for examination last year:— Final Grade, cold medal.—Merle Cunningham, Christchurch, pianoforte. Silver medal: Sydney Strang, Hamilton, pianoforte. Advanced Grade, gold medal.—C. Patrick Towscy, Auckland, pianoforte. Silver medal: Colin Horsely, Wanganui, pianoforte. Intermediate Grade, gold medal.— Cecilia T. Keating, Greymouth, violin. Silver medal: Lois Manning, Christchurch, pianoforte. Licentiate Exainiuations, two £25 prizes.—North Island: Marjorie Garrett, Palmerston North, pianoforte. South Island; Allen L. "Wellbrock, Christchurch, pianoforte. Local Exhibitions, £ls and £lO each. —Advanced grade: C. Patrick Towsey, pianoforte, intermediate grade: Teresa A. McSherry, Greymouth, violin. , Final Grade Prizes, £lO and free entry for Licentiate, for highest marks. —Merle Cunningham, pianoforte. Free entry for Licentiate for next highest marks: Sydney Strang, pianoforte; Louise Tonkin, Oamaru, pianoforte; Kathleen Kerr, Invercargill, pianoforte. Exhibitions.
