SCRAP IRON FOR JAPAN

ANOTHER LARGE CARGO STRANDED VESSEL REPLACED Advice has been received by Heather. Roberton, Limited, that, owing to the accident to the Japanese steamer Jugo Maru, which stranded at Noumea during a cyclone on April 9, the British steamer Helmspey will now load scrap metal in New Zealand for Japan, in place of the Jugo Maru. The Helmspev's" loading ports are Westport, Wellington and Auckland and she is due at Westport about May 14. The scrap to be loaded at West--port will consist largely of steel from coal mines. The Wellington cargo uill be of a very varied character, including old tramway material and railway scrap unearthed on the site of the old Petone railway shops, while the scrap from Auckland will include shipi' plates, boiler plates and broken machinery. It is expected the cargo to be loaded by the vessel will total about 7000 tons. The Helmspey is a steamer of 4740 tons gross and she was built at Sunderland in 1931. She is owned by the Strath Shipping Company, Cardiff.
