TRANSPORT NOVELTY
GOLD-SEEKERS' WAGGON Gold-seekers during tho past few months, in their efforts to arrive at the "pay. dirt" area, have adopted many novel means of transport in reaching their objective, but a conveyance that passed through Kaikoura last week was exceptional for reliabilitv. comfort and slow speeds, with a minimum qf upkeep costs. The two travellers, who, owing to reorganisation in their trades, lost good positions in Clnistchurch and were, after some considerable experience, disappointed with the monetary returns from the join the hunt for gold and, Nelson being selected as the country for the initial search, they purchased an old motor-trailer and, equipping the outfit with shafts, bought a horse to draw it. /■ Ihe trailer, with rubber tyres and springs, makes travelling at low speed decidedly comfortable, and at night parking' is an easy matter, and the tent framework is rapidly erected for sleeping purposes. The men are making the journey to Nelson in easy stages, camping en route and traversing the hilly portions of the road bv foot.
