LICE ON PIGS
PARAFFIN EMULSION .Almost any oil will serve for the purpose of killing lice on pigs, but I have recently been using an emulsion which makes a cheap dressing and is cleanly in use, writes an English expert, ft is really an emulsion I have used for many years :ior syringing rtiy rose trees, and my purpose in making it up was to give my pig houses a thorough disinfection. The emulsion is made by dissolving n quarter of a pound of any good washing soap in half a gallon of boiling water. While the water is boiling, five pints of paraffin is stirred in. I always use a large receptacle and keep it boiling while I stir in the paraffin, but this needs meat care, and it is safer to remove the boiling soap and water first, but it must be done quickly before it loses its temperature. The emulsion is of a milky substance, and the oil does not separate from the water if properly made. I xi«c it neat for dressing pigs, and mix the quantity named with ten gallons of water for syringing outhouses or on rose trees. It will mix perfectly with cold water.
