CRUISES DURING EASTER LITTLE JIM LOSES MAST EVENTS FOR NEXT SATURDAY BY SPINDRIFT Tlio weather during the Easter holidays was very favourable for yachting and all tho boats that went away had an enjoyable cruise. C'owes Bay, Wailieko, proved more popular than usual, a very largo number of yachts and launches visiting this well-known pleasure resort. Among the yachts which called at Cowes were Mahaki, Ariki, Wairiki, Gloriana, Speedwell, Ariel, Starlight, Wayward and Nomad. The launches included Wai-lani, Morn, Bona, Esmo, Princess Pat, Atatu, Lady Thelma, Aotearoa and Doris M. Ilex, Ladyo Wilnia, Rawene, Prize and tho launches Lady Una and Poilga were at Te Kouma, Coromandel. The B class keel yacht Little Jim carried away her mast on Monday after- j noon between Kawau and Tiri Tiri. Sho started for home under jury rig and soon afterwards was taken in tow by Mr. F. D. Pidgcon's launch Spindrift, and brought to Auckland. • The A class keel yacht Nga Toa visited Wharjgarei during tho Easter holidays. Sho left Auckland 011 Thursday evening and arrived at Whangarei on Friday morning. A visit to Kamo hot springs was made by tho crew, and 011 Saturday morning, tho yacht left for Kawau, where sho arrived in tho ovoning. Sunday was spent at Kawau and the moorings were reached 011 Monday afternoon. Tho Point Chevalier Sailing Club has still a number of events to decide bofore closing its racing season. On Saturday the club will hold a race to Rivorhead. On Sunday, April 30, a race will be held for 18ft. and under classes and will bo open to all clubs. The prizes have been donated by Mrs. H. Schmidt. Tho annual contest for tlio Bawhiti Cup will be decided 011 May 7, and also a race for the Wakatcre class. The Ponsonby Model Yacht Club will hold races for model yachts in St. Mary's boat harbour 011 Sunday. The Takapuna Boating Club will hold a race for the Lawless Shield for its 12ft. 6in. one-design class 011 Saturday, also a handicap race for the same class. Paces for yachts will be held by the Manukau Yacht and Motor-boat Club on Saturday afternoon. The Richmond Cruising Club will hold a sweepstake race to Beach Haven on Saturday, starting from Ponsonby Wharf at 3 p.in. This will conclude the club's racing programme. The annual prize night will be held in the Masonic Hall early in June. The Royal Now Zealand Yacht Squadron will* hold a cruising race for keel yachts on Saturday, and also a harbour race for class M.
