TO-DAY'S ILLUSTRATIONS WEALTH OF TOPICAL ITEMS Outstanding events of tho Easter holiday season in New Zealand are admirably illustrated in the large pictorial section of this week's issue of the Ai'i'KliAnh Weekly News. The Auckland Racing Club's Easter carnival at Ellerslie is depicted on the frontispiece. Interesting photographs of the racing are combined with snapshots secured among tho patrons on the lawn. The seaside gala at Eastbourne, Wellington, during Easter is tho subject of an interesting full-page. Another holiday attraction in Wellington was the series of displays given by the warships Dunedin, Veronica and Laburnum during "Navy Week,'' and a fullpage records features of the displuvs. "Fifty Years of l<ife at Nelson Girls' College" is the title of a highly interesting page of photographs showing pupils dressed in the period costumes they wore at the pageant held oil Easter Saturday evening in connection with the jubilee celebrations of the college. The departure from Auckland of the Governor-General and Lady Bledisloe for their Pacific Islands cruise in H M.S. Diomede is strikingly illustrated. The "Back to tho Goldfields" spirit in the hinterland of Nelson Province is illustrated on the centre double-page which is devoted to interesting scenes at the new Golden Hope settlement. A wealth of miscellaneous holiday photographs taken in many parts of tho Dominion is reproduced on other pages of this splendid publication. Prominent among these are weddings and social events;'the masters and pupils of the Wnnganui Collegiate School; rehabilitation in Napier; successful ascent of Mount Set'ton in the Southern Alps; sight-seeing from the air over Auckland; Auckland Mounted Rifles on parade in Hamilton; the quinnat salmon industry in Canterbury; pictures received by the latest overseas mails.
