DOMINION ORANGEMEN
MOVE FOR INDEPENDENCE AUSTRALIAN LINK BROKEN [BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCHURCH, Monday A momentous decision at the 26th Annual session of the Grand Orange Lodge of New Zealand was to secede from the Grand Orange Council of Australasia, , under whose jurisdiction the Grand Lodge of New Zealand has operated since its inception. As New Zealand is self-governing, Dominion members felt it was time the Grand Orange' Lodge in this country took unto itself self-governing powers. It was also decided to makeNipplication for affiliation with the Imperial Grand Orange Council of the World. A proposal to hold no Grand Lodge Bession in 1934, on the score of expense, was overwhelmingly defeated. It was stated that the year had been a busy one, and that tho membership had not decreased. The following officers were elected lit to-day's session: —Grand master, Mr. G. Agnew (Invercargill); deputygrand master, Mr. H. Hunter (Wellington) ; grand chaplain, Mr. E. A. Benfell (Dunedin); grand secretary, Mr. J. W. Patton (Dunedin).
