EXCHANGE RATES AND TARIFFS
Sir, —I must ask "Realist" to reread my previous letters and tVon show where 1 contended that purchases of imported goods would bo determined by the amount of sterling credits, irrespective of exchange rates. Just the same as there is a difference in what 1 wrote and what "Realist" quotes me as having contended, so thero is a difference between inflation and raising the exchange rate and between raising the exchange rato and increasing duties. These things are not the same, but because they are similar in some respects people are apt to jump to the conclusion that they are the same. Louie.
