THE "FLYING FILLY"
SILVER SCORN'S VICTORY DEPARTING FOR SYDNEY ST. LEGER STAKES TO-DAY The "flying filly" Silver Scorn, who at Ellerslio on Saturday easily added the Great Northern Oaks to her list of victories, is to leave Auckland for Sydney by tiie Monowai to-morrow. Sho will be seen in action on a New Zealand racecourse for the last time today, when sho will run in the Great Northern St. Leger Stakes. Silver Scorn has now won 12 races in 13 starts and her stake-winnings total £3950. Since being purchased last November by the Sydney trainer, Mr. F. T. Cash, for £2IOO, sho lias won for him £2-115. Saturday's success was worth £3OO to the owner and £SO to fcho breeder, Sir. G. Murray Aynsley, who formerly owned her and still trains her. The St. Legcr run to-day is worth £350 to tho owner and £SO to the breeder. Mr. Cusli, who arrived from Sydney last week, was v present at Ellerslie to see his filly win. Ho said sho would not race again this season and would probably bo reserved for weight-for-age events in tho spring. There were also handicap events such as the Melbourne Cup, but it was likely that tho handicappers would take good care of her. Mr. Cush was tho trainer of Chide, who after winning tho New Zealand Cup, Canterbury Cup and G. G. Stead Gold Cup in 1929, was sold by Mr. Murray Aynsley to Mr. T. C. Trautwein, of Sydney, for the record price of (3000 guineas. It has generally been thought that Chide proved a very costly disappointment, but Mr. Cush conveyed the interesting information that tho gelding was not actually a losing proposition. Ho won three or four races when confidently supported at a good prico and in this way moro than returned his purchase money.
