SICKNESS AMONG HARES
COURSING CLUB'S LOSS OFFICIALS MYSTIFIED [by telecraph OWN correspondent] -VMIHI, Sunday Owing to the death of three har<?« and the emaciated condition of several others, the executive of the Waihi ■ Coursing Club decided on Friday evening to postpone the inaugural meeting which was to have been held on Easter Monday. The president of the club, Mr. W. J. Allen, said that he could not account for the mortality and sickness among the hares, which had been given every care and attention. Officials were mystified as to the cause of the sickness. Samples were being sent to the Government pathologist in the hope that his analysis would give some indication of the cause and the necessary remedial i measures. Mr. Allen made it quite clear that there was not the slightest suspicion of foul play or poisoning, and this view was supported by the police.
