The course and greens were in perfect order and the weather, although threatening, remained fine. About 30 entries were received from players from th* principal neighbouring clubs. During the morning a bogey handicap match was played, the winner being K. M. Pike (21), one down. The next best scores were:—J. W. Graham, A. Adlam, sen., 2 down; J Morrison. B. Cole-Baker, F. J. Duncan, C. Roscoe, J. Roulston, J. H. Eyre, D. Coyle, 3 down; G. Payne, 4 down. In the afternoon a medal round was played over 18 holes. The winner was Dr. J. MeWhirter, 85, 13 —72. As conditions were ideal, the scores returned by most of tho short handicap players were very poor. The first 16 to qualify in two rounds of medal play will contest the championship.
