SYDNEY HORSE SALE

VALUABLE CLYDESDALE CHAMPION FROM HAWERA (Received April 10, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY. April 16 Country visitors to the Royal Show declare that horses are coming into their .own again. Prices consequently are rising. This fact was emphasised at yesterday's sale of Clydesdale stallions when the record price of 530 guineas was paid for Canmorja, the champion Clydesdale in this year's show. The vendors were the Moore Eunter Estate, of Hawera, New Zealand. At no time during the sale by one firm of auctioneers did the price fall below 100 guineas. One breeder obtained 1020 guineas for five draught horses. RECORD DAIRY YIELD NORTH AUCKLAND SEASON LOWER ADVANCE PAYMENTS [FROM OUlt OWN CORRESPONDENT] WHANGAREI, Sunday Figures relating to the nine largest dairy factories in the Whangarei district, Northern Wairoa and the Far North show that tho averago advance payment to suppliers, to be made on April 20, will be 7d a pound for superfine and t>Ad for standard grade. The highest advance payment for any ono company will be 8d for superfine and 7id for standard, and the lowest and 6d respectively. These figures discloso a decrease in most cases of id to Id a pound, compared with the previous month. Discussing the position to-day, Mr. E. S. Tremaine, chairman of directors of the Whangarei Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, stated that advances up to 8d were possible this month, because most of tho companies concerned had made f.o.b. Auckland sales at not less than 9d. Those factories which sold on consignment were receiving an advance of only 6d. . "The amount per pound advanced this month," said Mr. Tremaine, "will bo tiio lowest on record since tho first factory was established in North Auckland about 25 years ago, when the company paid 9d a pound. This year tho actual cash paid out in tho North has been very large, owing to the fact that numbers of sheep farmers are now dairy farming and dairy farmers have increased their herds. Another factor is that practically every factory in tho North has this year established a record output. This has been the best season for production the North has ever experienced, and there is still an abundance of feed. Top-dressing and improved production methods have had much to do with tho large productive increase." LEA RIG JERSEY SALE DISPERSAL OF THE STUD A dispersal sale of the well-known Lea Rig Jersey stud owned by Messrs. A. Christie and Company, Tanekaka. near Hikurangi, will be held on April 28, the auctioneers being Wright, Stephenson and Company, Limited, and the North Auckland Farmers' Co-oper-ative, Limited. This stud was founded with the famous cow Loo. The offering will comprise 58 stud cows and in-calf heifers, six stud one and two-year-old bulls, and the herd sire Te Ante Mars Pride. There will be offered 37 members of the famous Loo family, including Vivandiero, v.h.c., c.o.r. 10361b. fat, world's champion twice-a-day milked cow.
