FISH AT ROTORUA

RECENT GOOD BASKETS With the approach of the closing month of the season, the average weight of fish taken in the Rotorua district is increasing. Good early morning and evening rises are reported at both the outlet and inlet to the Ohau Channel, while fishing at Hainurana is also good. Last week, says the Rotorua Post, a Sydney visitor, Mr. F. E. Bryant, took a limit bag at Hamurana for a day's fly fishing. A very successful week's fishing trip to Rotorua was spent recently by Mr. ,T. Gribble and Mr. L. Gribble, of Auckland, the visitors securing a bag of 5n well-conditioned fish in the various lakes. At Lake Rotoiti the party took 14 fish, averaging 51b., the largest being a fine seven-pounder. From Lake Rotoma the party secured nine and from Rcrewhakaitu, a catch of 35. These last were all good-conditioned fish, but of lower average weight than the remainder.
