Mr. J. A. C. Allum has returned to 1 Auckland from Wellington. Mr. R. Semple and Mr. R. McKeen, . : M.P.'s arrived from Wellington on Saturday. Mr T. M. Charters has been reelected chairman of the Christchurch Fire Board. Mr. E. H. Andrews has been re-elected vice-chairman. Professor R* Jack, professor of physics at Otago University, returned to Wellington by the Rangitata from London last week and later left for Dunedin. Mr. T. Johnson has been appointed official member of the Maori Council for the Tongariro district. He will take the place of Mr. G. Johnston, who recently resigned. ' : - Mr. Dynes Fulton, Mr. T. C. Brash inrl Mr. W. Grounds, of the Dairy Produce Board, left Wellington bv the , Wanganella on Friday for Sydney. Tney will return about the end of the month. Dr G. B. Pierce, of New York, who returned to Auckland recently after fishinc at the Bay of Islands, left again last evening for Wellington He will sail by the Makura for ban I'rancisco to-morrow. Mr J C. Barton, divisional superintendent of the Great Indian Peninsular Railway Company, arrived at Wellington by the Rangitata from London last week. He will spend a month trout fishing in New Zealand.
