DEATH AT WHANGAREI
[FROM OUR OWN CORRKSrON'DENT] WHANG AlvEI. Saturday A disabled returned soldier, John Patterson, single, aged about 54 years, died on Thursday evening at Whangarei. Deceased was apparently on his way homo to his hut on the Parua Bay Road, a short distance beyond tho Victoria Bridge. Mr. W. Reynolds, junr., heard a splash and saw deceased in the water. He brought him ashore. Patterson was taken to tho watchhouse at Whangarei for medical attention, but he died shortly afterward. Tho coroner was informed, but an inquest is not considered necessary.
