MISS BATTEN'S PROGRESS ARRIVAL AT BAGDAD PERSIAN STAGE BEGUN NO NEWS SINCE WEDNESDAY By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received April 14, 5.5 p.m.) BAGDAD. April 13 Miss Jean Batten, the Auckland girl who left Lympne, Kent, on Sunday morning on a flight to Australia, arrived at Bagdad yesterday and departed for Bushire, Persia, two hours later. There has been no news of her since then. British airmen are astonished at the progress Miss Batten is making. One remarked: " If this is what she means by taking a quiet trip to Australia I wonder what she would do if she went 'all out.' " ITALIAN IN PERSIA FORCED LANDING MADE PREVIOUS ANXIETY FELT (Received April 14. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. April 13 Captain Robbiano made a forced landing near Ilinduan, Persia, owing to a shortage of petrol. His machine was not damaged and he resumed his flight to-day. Prior to the receipt of the news of the safety of the airman the air attache at the Italian Embassy in London stated that Italy was anxious about him. He left England on Saturday on a flight to Australia and had not been heard of since he left Aleppo next day. It was feared that the airman had met sandstorms or been " potted " by snipers when flying over Persia. Lrgent inquiries were made at Basra. Captain Robbiano carried a week's food.
