LIST OF LICENSEES Information relating to firms licensed as wholesalers and as manufacturing, retailers under the sales tax legislation is contained in the Gazette issued on Thursday. The absence of such a list had been a frequent subject of complaints. Licensed wholesalers have to give details of sales made to other licensed wholesalers, and sales made to other than licensed wholesalers, tax being payable in the latter instance, unless the goods are on the exempted list. While doubt existed as to which firms were licensed wholesalers the position was necessarily confused, and it was feared that many adjustments would be made in completing subsequent forms. The first returns of sales are due on April 28, so the issue of the list of licensees should facilitate the compilation of tho required information. The gazetted list contains the name# of 779 wholesalers and 140 manufacturing retailers. 5
